The weather is getting warmer and volunteers at the two Community Garden sites are busy preparing garden beds and planting crops for summer and fall. New volunteers are always welcome. If you think you might be interested in seeing what’s going on and joining in the fun, drop by during one of the work parties.
The Pine St Community Garden is located in the downtown area and within walking distance of the bus exchange. Work parties are held every Wednesday from 11am to 4pm with a lunch break at 1pm. This garden is an oasis hidden behind the Foodshare Centre at 271 Pine St.
The Beban Learning Garden is located within Beban Park and has just recently become open to the public. The Co-Op Greenhouse is located at this site, along with many raised beds for gardening. Volunteers work at the garden beds growing food and in the greenhouse, starting plants for sales. To participate in work parties at this location, please stop by the work parties on Wednesdays between 10am and noon.
